The Perils of Success Edition 5 (The Benjamin Button Effect)
The Perils of Success Edition 5 (The Benjamin Button Effect)
Life can be extremely overwhelming, because of the demand for knowledge many of us peak at a very young age. Technology and the easy grasp to obtain knowledge make the world a smaller place. Years ago you had to travel to learn about the world, now we can do it from sitting in your living room.
Motivation is the hardest thing to find when you feel burned out. Who can you turn to for motivation or support when many around you feel the same way? Everyday is a hustle but the grind of everyday can prevent your hustle. That 9-5 job can stall you from your ultimate goal. It’s a vicious cycle that’s impossible to break because we have to work to have money to live but are we living if we’re not living our dreams?
The technology era and our generation require instant gratification. We work hard and prepare our self for a job market that doesn’t match or has yet to catch up to our qualifications. Over qualified is a saying heard all the time with our generation, but isn’t that the point to obtain knowledge? Wouldn’t we want the best on our team? We don’t work hard to get smart to be dumb, so what is an appropriate qualification? or level of qualification?
We peak young to make our lives easier when we get old, but the ‘Benjamin Button’ in all of us works against us. Its almost like “what am I working for? Why try?” The powers that be seem to already have our lives planned for us but let’s say fuck them and anyone standing in your way to reverse that growth pattern. Fuck Benjamin Button, his aging process and get as smart as you can. Over qualification simply means “you’re smarter than me so I’m scared of you.”
To be over qualified is to be ready and we’re waiting.

The Perils of Success (The Prequel: The Pachangas Movement)
”The Perils of Success” [The Pachangas Movement]
Pachanga is a infamous fictitious character from the classic gangster flick “Carlitos Way,” who sold Carlito Out for his own motives. The Song shows reference to that in which we all have “fake” friends and/or people around for different reasons.
In Life We Lose Friends Gain Friends Forget Friends & all together moves on from failed friendships. Phony, Fake, Back-Stabbers, Haters we’ve heard em all but with the recent release of Fabolous “losos way” we now have a new term to those friends with “motives” for being around “Pachangas.” We’ve all had em in our life, we all still have them around but what’s the problem? What causes someone to envy you so much that they either want your life, look at you as a come up or all together can’t stand you!
Believe it or not everyone is in your life for reason/motives YES! YES! They are! Do not be fooled! It’s A Hard Pill to Shallow but it’s true. Not saying all motivates are bad! We keep best friends around! Why? They comfort us in time of need! We search for love! Why? To have a significant other! But when did the pachanga movement start?
(Hook)
A thug changes and love changes
And best friends become strangers, Pachangas
Pa-Pa-Pachangas , Pa-Pa-Pachangas
Verse 1:
Everything ain’t love, Love cuz if it is
My definition of love must differ his
I mean every friendship has its differences
But these ‘Young Bucks’ remind me of ‘Fif’ and his
They hear the good life, wanna see what the difference is
Some just wanna smoke, enjoy the piff-vileges
He unwrap a cigar like it’s a gift of his
He a funny lil nigga like Eddie Griffin is
Between smokin’ and chokin’ then you got to live
So I gave him a chance and that’s alot to give
We ‘posed to make the most of what you was paid to gross
I gave you bread and butter you supposed to make the toast
Fifteen years, FIFTEEN YEARS
And now when we say ‘what’s up’ the shit seem weird
But there’s a question I prepared for you
How could you fuck the only people who ever cared for you?
A thug changes
With success comes admires most often young dudes who see your hustle or very rare a older dude who wanna join the circle. Over time they lose focus of what your doing to better your life & your success becomes theirs! They forget about the road traveled to get their & just see the result of hard work! Many people who enter privileged situations forget about the hard work to get there! Many times people with distorted definitions of success believe your life, your success is theirs, and then the BS starts. You give an inch they take a football field & distance their self forgetting who put them on.
Hard work looks easy when done right, so they may reach the same destination as you but the road they travel will be a lot harder. Pachangas who enter the ‘good life’ often see what you do as “easy” or your worth isn’t much, until they go out & try on their own. Competition wears heavy on the shoulders of a person who isn’t built to compete.
Verse 2
There’s a parallel path between friends and enemies
And whenever you cross it you make frienemies
There’s no remedies for these sick memories
My doctor said there’s no cure for the Emilys
Had a crush on you now we Kim and Cease
We don’t even talk no more it’s no biggie
I was so Biggie, you was Faith
I let you slide in my home, you was safe
I thought my ability to provide you stability
Was what was really G, okay silly me
I was Billy D, smooth cat but really street
Really she attract niggas like the A Milli beat
And I happen to rap but somethin’ ’bout this beat strange
Soon as I try to flow with it the beat change
Never thought she’d change
But what you thinks a upgrade really just could be a seat change.
Success & Love can & do co-exist but most significant others see your struggle & hustle as a transparent achievement. It’s hard to reflect with someone who wasn’t there from the beginning, when they didn’t see your grind. We can’t stop from falling for someone, we can’t pick who we love or grow feeling for, and not even the doctor has the cure for that. People get comfortable when they feel comfortable, forgetting that the “nice” things we strive for in life cost, not only money but sacrifice.
We do things in love that we think is for the best of us but people change, situations change & motives becomes altered. What we think is a good thing is not always the best thing! Sometimes that upgrade can just be a seat change.
Verse 3:
See when the love is gone then it’s just B.S. left
Just niggaz with chains on tryna be S.F.
That’s when your ace boom coon ya B.F.F.
Pa-Pa-Pa-Pachang ya like they was a P.F. chef
Da-Da-Da-Danger, it just feels ‘Mystikal’
I miss the cool nights sittin in the Coll-O
Now it’s like boooo we sittin’ in Apollo
It used to be all good then shit just went mallo
And that’s bad, matter fact that’s sad
Cuz when you lose a friend it’s hard to handle the loss
They do some bitch shit gotta give ya man a divorce
End up watchin Friends like Joey, Chandler and Ross, ya see
Most of these niggaz ain’t never love ‘em
And these bitches just think whatever of ‘em
So maybe playin’ dumb was kinda clever of ‘em
And less friends are your best friends become strangers.
The Streets are the most aggressive come up in the “business” world! Anyone dealing in any type of street corporation knows that “pachangas” are inevitable, its one of the few guarantees in the street code, it’s just a matter of when & who would cross you. Fortunately smart dudes keep their circle smaller than shoe string hole but there is no hiring manager for the streets any fool, or idiot who isn’t “street” can enter the game & get it mixed up with sucker moves.
The Game produces more breakups to makeup stories than a troubled relationship, a huge portion of dudes in the streets have no loyalty but it’s the easiest gig to get into but the hardest to maintain. The “pachangas” ultimately get flushed out having damaging effects to who they crossed, so the trick is to lock in on who is or isn’t capable of “pachanga-like” activities.
(Hook)
A thug changes and love changes
And best friends become strangers, Pachangas
Pa-Pa-Pachangas , Pa-Pa-Pachangas
A thug changes and love changes
And best friends become strangers, Pachangas
Pa-Pa-Pachangas , Pa-Pa-Pachangas
Friends, Enemies, what does it matter? At the end of the day all that matters is family, your future & the success we all strive for. We lose friends, gain friends every other day, the problem with having problems is & will always be miscommunication! Everyone always thinks he/she deserves more than their getting, we all want the limelight; we want what’s owed to us! Some even want credit & respect for things not owed to them!
Love does change & best friends usually become strangers, its one of the few things guaranteed in life! Keep ya eyes on ya circle, before they hurt you!
