Nightmare On Karma Street

Karma is defined as an action or deed that causes the cycle of cause and effect, it allows us to “let go” without feeling defeated. We have to believe in karma, it helps us sleep better at night knowing there is a super hero of justice flying around gunning down motherfu*kers who have done us wrong. Karma keeps us in good spirit with the hopes that everything will be okay.
People make reference to karma like it’s a creature of horror, we only speak about karma as if only bad karma exist, unfortunately, karma is not a bit*h, what goes around does not come back around and nothing that happens to you is the result of karma the big bad wolf. Karma is not on your side, neither is it on the side of someone who did you wrong.
We want karma to save us but it’s hard to judge who karma is working for. Is there a karma energy bar that allows one person to possess more karma power than the other? What goes around comes around but realistically who is it coming for? Does karma reset itself with every social interaction we have? Or is it a ”roll-over minutes” kind of plan, where if we do bad over here the karma monster hunts us down wherever to punish us?
There may be a higher power at work that puts things back in its place but is that powered by good or bad deeds? There are people who have been doing wrong forever yet got all the good luck in the world? Some of the nicest people have the toughest luck. How is that explained?
No good deed goes unpunished and regardless of what you do there will always be two sides of the story. There will always be people who appreciate your decisions and others who hate it. Karma works two ways but strangely we all want it to only work in our favor but isn’t that also a cause of karma to come back and get you?

There was once a time when you actually played video games all the way through to the end then played the game over again. The graphics of todays games are dope but they re-playability isn’t. Rarely are there any games that we actually “can’t wait” to play again. Now, soon as we need a game we trade it in or throw it to the side. Sega created a dope era of games with 16-bit graphics (that was dope for the time) & many games that we actually cared to play again.

“Cool” Overdose
The difference between minority and white American youth is their educational value. Minority youth glorify and value what pop culture says, it’s viewed as the “cool” thing to do. White youth glorifies it also, but not as much, it’s seems as if they’re more educated on the difference between what’s real and what’s ENTERTAINMENT. They’re taught how to capitalize off of what minority youth glorify. Way too many black/Latin American youth are too caught up on what’s (hot, cool, fly, dope etc.…) and not enough of our interest is focused on what’s really “cool” such as acquiring knowledge and attaining skills that’ll help us excel in life.
I love Hip-Hop and the opportunity it has created for so many people of our ethnic group to raise their families for decades, but as of late I feel that our youth are being poisoned by lyrics and trying to live vicariously through them or go above and beyond to live the lives these ENTERTAINERS portray in these music videos and magazines. Too many of our youth strive to walk in the footsteps of their favorite artist for the wrong reasons. These are the same youth that feels it’s “corny” to strive to be like the men/women that have stood up and laid down their lives to help reshape this country (i.e.: Martin Luther King, El Haj Malik Shabazz, Clarence Edward Smith, Marcus Garvey, etc.…)
But is it our youth’s fault? Or is it the powers that be that continually brainwash them? Is it our school systems? Or our “rehabilitation systems” that actually don’t rehabilitate anyone but instead criminalize a young male/female even more? A young minority goes to prison for felony charge, gets released and now has way less options of employment to seek because of this felony, which makes prison a “revolving door.”
Young brothers and sisters wake up, educate yourself, culture yourself and be proud of it! THE WORLD IS YOURS.
